BMW-2019 X7 Review: Is It Worth Buying?

The 2019 BMW X7 is considered as the biggest SUV in BMW’s lineup so far. Being put on the sale in March 2019, the SUV looks superb and classy and is being praised for its powerful performance. According to the auto experts, X7 is a move by BMW to get ahead of the Mercedes Benz GLS and Land Rover Range Rover.

The X7 is available in two versions. The base XDrive 401 has a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged inline six engine while the xDrive50i has a 4.4-liter twin turbo V8.

In this piece of blog, we will review BMW 2019 X7 for its performance, features and other specifications.

Exterior:

Let’s start from the exterior of the X7.

The striking point of its exterior is a huge grille. In fact, it is the largest one any automaker has ever designed, as claimed by BMW.

The wheels are of 21 inches, though the option of 22 inches is also available. It is a huge vehicle that goes thin at the top, making it look a bit smaller. However, it can’t be still sidelined that it is the largest and widest vehicle among competitors from Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi. The SUV has a length of 5150 mm, wide of 2000 mm while the wheelbase is of 3100 mm.

When viewed from behind, the greenhouse of the SUV looks tastefully tapered from on the outside, while leaving space on the inside. The rear door is longer and larger than the front doors, ensuring improved accessibility while entering or moving out of the third-row seats.

Engines, Ride, and Handling:

The X7 (40i) is powered by a pair of turbocharged engines 4.4 liter V-8 with 479 pounds-feet of torque. Another variant X Drive 50i has turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder with 330 pounds-feet of torque. Both variants are paired with an 8 speed automatic and all-wheel drive and a four-corner air suspension.

An air suspension integrated with adaptive damping provides an enjoyable ride in Comfort mode.

Interior:

The X7 features an appealing interior in a two-tone color scheme. BMW has added a third glass panel right above the backseats for some extra light. X7’s second seat row comes with an option of captain’s chair. BMW claims that the captain’s chair can be adjusted like the front seats. And there are electric adjustments for the backrest angle. Controls can be found around the cabin for the various seats as well as on the driver’s side. The X7 features 48.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, which can be stretched to 90.4 cubic feet as you fold down the second and third rows.

Technology:

The interior is equipped with cutting edge technology, just like the previous models of X series. There are a digital gauge display and a large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen taking over the dashboard. Other exciting pieces of standard tech installed in the X7 are Apple CarPlay, 10 speaker audio system, onboard Wi-Fi, wireless smartphone-charging pad and navigation. Coming to its luxurious features, the SUV is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, a power adjustable steering wheel, and 12 colors ambient lighting. All X7 models are equipped with lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and pedestrian detection.

Our Verdict:

If you are a fan of the BMW X series, you are going to love X7 more than the previous models. The SUV not only looks ravishing but also deserves full marks on performance, fuel efficiency and technology. Given that it is the largest model ever by BMW, make sure you have an appropriate parking space for that.
